Outrage as Henley Man Decorates Broken Bridge

Henley has been thrown into chaos becasue a local man, calling himself “Clive”, covered Henley’s broken bridge with LED lights in a move set to infuriate local whingers who object to Christmas displays appearing before August.

One exceptionally surly resident said: “Christmas tat seems to be appearing earlier and earlier every year! It’s only March for heavens sake, I thought this nonsense would end when Woolies finally collapsed”.

The Banksy inspired gift to the town attracted the attention of several councillors who were none too pleased by how quickly and effectively the town could move forward when they were not involved.

“Proper procedures were not followed so we cannot allow these lights to remain in place or, before you know it, reisdents will be taking it upon themselves to tidy up & decorate other parts of the town without permission – it will be anarchy!” a member told us.

Tatty Welcome

Open-minded resident Nigel McLovin told us “I was happy with that nice red plastic barrier OCC tied to the bridge a year ago. At first I thought it made for an ugly and tatty welcome to Henley and that they should just get on with the repair, but I’ve grown to love it now – I’m sure I will feel the same about the lights eventually”.

A Henley Town Council representitive told Henley Planet that there’s really no need to get too worked up about the lights. SODC and OCC can be relied on to do the wrong thing by the most people so we’ll just blame them when the time comes.

“Clive” would do well to remember that Henley Bridge is not and never will be Oxfordshire’s answer to Blackpool Illuminations.

We’ve a long way to go, and we need far more than nail bars and covfefe shops before we can attract the millions of tourists that visit Blackpool every year.
